With a source image over 100,000 pixels wide and using hundreds of gigabytes of data, we've created the most detailed relief map of the Teton Range ever made.
This map is so big, with so much detail that you could print it 30 feet long and 15 feet tall and even at that size you'd need a magnifying glass to see any fuzziness.
The kind of high resolution elevation data that we use to make our maps hasn't been available for the Teton Range. That finally changed earlier this year, when new LiDAR datasets were published by the USGS.
Elevation data derived from LiDAR has sub 1-meter spatial resolution, a 10x higher resolution than traditional models. See the difference for yourself.
The Tetons stand out as the most dramatic mountains I've seen. As a cartographer, they are an impossibly enticing subject. I'm so excited to share with you a map that's been on my short list for a long time. I hope you like it.
If you've read this far you should check out our available maps. I'm really proud of how our images look on our website but I promise, they are even more incredible on the wall!
